Fish ecology and fisheries science research

Fisheries worldwide are experiencing population declines, requiring modern and historic understanding of ecosystem functioning to assist with global management practices.

Managing sustainable wild stock and aquaculture systems requires a detailed knowledge of reproductive biology. AUT research aims to understand the role of intrinsic reproductive strategies on gamete quality in wild and aquacultured fishes by tracing the flux of bio markers from mothers to gametes.
