Make sure you allow plenty of time for your payment to be processed by the due date. Your payment due date is printed on your fees invoice. Unfortunately at this time, AUT doesn’t offer payment plans or the option to pay by instalments.
If you don't pay in full by the due date, you risk losing your place in class and AUT may suspend your access to university services. If you attend class without paying, contact the AUT Student Hub immediately.
You can pay your fees in $NZD at the International Student Payments page.
You must pay your tuition fees in full to apply for your student visa. We recommend also paying your insurance, the Compulsory Student Services Fee and Enrolment Fee at the same time.
All credit card payments made will incur a non-refundable surcharge fee of 1.9%.
You can refer to your Offer of Place for an outline of the fees payable.
Any refund of fees will be calculated in accordance with AUT's refund protocols.

You can use an overseas telegraphic transfer facility to pay your fee in $NZ from a home country bank. Before you choose this option, you need to know the following:
Overseas bank transfers paid in $US are subject to intra bank buying and selling rates at the exchange rate on the day when the transfer is processed. This can result in the student payment incurring a gain or loss of payment over which AUT has no control.

Returning international students continuing their programme of study, who first enrolled in their programme before 2024, will pay the lesser of:
Student services levy and insurance are charged separately.
Returning international students besides using the above payments methods can also pay online through your Arion account if you have an invoice to be paid.
Please note that enrolment exceeding the normal duration of the programme of study will result in fees being charged at the standard published rate for the year in which the continued or additional study is undertaken. Returning international students who are invoiced, can also make secure online payments by credit card or internet banking by visiting arion.aut.ac.nz > Online Finance > Online Payment
New international students commencing their programme of study may choose from the two following payment plans:
Your required payment will be the tuition fees charged for the year you first enrol in your programme of study, with each subsequent year’s fee being the published international programme fees for each academic year as set by the AUT Council, provided that study is undertaken on a continuous basis (in 2024, international programme fees increased by up to 6% per annum).
Student services levy and insurance will be charged separately on an annual basis at the rate applicable for that year.
Please note that enrolment exceeding the normal duration of the programme of study will result in fees being charged at the standard published rate for the year in which the continued or additional study is undertaken.
A one–off payment of the entire tuition fee for the full standard duration of the programme of study can be made based upon the rate set by the AUT Council in the year you begin. No annual increases will be applied provided payment is made in full at the start of the programme and study is undertaken on a continuous basis.
Student services levy and insurance will be charged separately on an annual basis at the rate applicable for that year.
Please note that other than an approved formal leave of absence, any break in study of a semester/trimester or more, OR enrolment exceeding the normal duration of the programme of study will result in fees being charged at the standard published rate for the year in which the continued or additional study is undertaken.
When your full payment is received as per your offer of place, AUT will send you a receipt/payment acknowledgement *via email using the contact details you have supplied.
As an international student, you need a student visa/permit to study in New Zealand. You must present your receipt/payment acknowledgement to Immigration New Zealand (INZ) as part of your visa application.
*Any outstanding balance indicated needs to be paid, and if you have a credit balance, this may be requested as a refund AFTER you have arrived in New Zealand and been invoiced for all courses for your programme of study.
