Mana Tangata Contribution is the curriculum strand for this course. Mana Tangata Contribution emphasises a commitment to mana, whakapapa, participation, and equity. In this course, tauira kaiako (student teachers) will critically explore what it means to notice, recognise, and respond to the contributions of people, places, and things, underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Tauira kaiako will question how their worldviews influence what they observe, what is visible to them, and how this shapes their assumptions about learning and teaching. Tauira kaiako will critique theories of learning and play and key policy documents in relation to Mana Tangata | Contribution. Tauira kaiako will respond to prescribed children’s literature to critically reimagine their contribution to tamariki and whānau.
