Applies advanced and specific mechanical engineering knowledge to provide a fully detailed solution of complex mechanical designs. Specialised design topics will require the application of design codes and other tools used by design practitioners requiring exposure to codified and research knowledge. Additionally, information will be required from the open literature. Original investigations to be undertaken that will include objective formulation, experiment design and analysis as well as data evaluation. Incorporated within this task will be good design practices that build on those from earlier work.
