Don’t have your student ID card yet? You can still use AUT services
If you don’t have your ID card yet (or you don’t have it on you), you can still use AUT services with your AUT App or network login.

Getting your ID card
These steps describe how you will receive your student ID card:
- Make sure you have supplied a photograph and you have been enrolled and invoiced for your courses
- International students: you must have paid your fees and accepted your Offer of Place (you can do this online in Arion, or sign and date your Acceptance of Offer form and email it to autadmissions@aut.ac.nz)
- Make sure the New Zealand address you have provided in Arion is correct and up to date, as this is where your ID card will be mailed to
- Within 5 days of completing the above process, you should get a notification that your ID card has been printed
- Wait to receive your ID card in the mail
- The cost of the ID card is included in your tuition fee
Not studying on campus?
If you're not studying with us on campus, you won’t need an ID card.
Need to supply a photograph?
The quickest way to supply a photograph is to upload it via Arion > Personal Details > Upload Photo.
If you are having difficulty you can also send your photograph to autadmissions@aut.ac.nz with your name and Student ID number for our reference.
Your AUT Student ID card photo needs to be:
- A recent photo
- Full colour, saved in jpeg, jpg,or png file format
- Greater than 500kb and less than 10MB
- Minimum 400 pixels wide x 300 pixels high
- Maximum 4500 pixels wide x 6000 pixels high
- Aspect Ratio: 4.3 (the proportion between width and height)
- A full-front view of your face, head and shoulders. Your eyes must be open
- No sunglasses may be worn. Tinted prescription glasses may be worn, provided your eyes are still visible.
- Without hats, head coverings or head bands (except for religious purposes)
The card is non-transferable and remains the property of AUT.
Using your ID card
You can use your card for:
- Identification and entry to exams
- Printing and photocopying
- Borrowing items at the library
- Using AUT computers and study spaces
- Student discounts
If you don't have your ID card
You don't need your ID card to come on to campus or to attend Orientation or classes, you only need your network login/username. And if you don't have your ID card yet, or you don't have it on you, you can still use AUT services like:
