Orientation for new students

Orientation is the best way to get set up for uni life – meet new people, find your way around and discover everything AUT has to offer. Whether this is your first time at uni or you're returning to study, it makes those first days less overwhelming. Let's get started together!

Semester 2 Orientation 2026

Get ready to kick off your semester with Orientation on Tuesday 7 July at the City Campus – open to all AUT students, whatever and wherever you’re studying. Find your way around campus, feel part of the AUT whānau and get the info you’ll use once classes begin. Less guessing, more confidence. The full programme will be shared here soon – keep an eye out.

Orientation Day essentials to add to your schedule

AUT101 is an introduction to AUT student life and support services, delivered by our AUT Student Ambassadors. Learn about your support services and get some tips from a fellow student about starting university the right way. AUT101 sessions are running throughout the day – add this to your Orientation schedule via the AUT app.

At an IT SORTED session our ICT Student Support team can make sure you’re able to access all the necessary systems and digital tools that will support you throughout your AUT journey. This is the perfect place to ask any tech questions. These sessions are running throughout the day at a Tech Central on campus – add an IT Sorted session to you schedule via the AUT app.

Join our Student Ambassadors and get to know your campus. Find out where all the important stuff is and enjoy the range of facilities, services and spaces here at AUT.

If you think you will benefit from a less overwhelming, quieter orientation day experience come along to the Orientation Chill Zone. Student ambassadors and support staff will also be on hand for any questions you may have.

Add this to your Orientation schedule via the AUT app or drop in on the day.

Here you’ll find everything that AUT has to offer beyond academics that make being an AUT student, just that much more fun, engaging and connected. Head to the AUT app to find out where the Student Life zone is located on your campus.
