Akoranga Childcare Centre Inc. was established in 1988. The centre is governed by a management committee, including a chair, secretary, centre manager, centre administration/accounts personnel and centre parents. The management committee is elected annually at the AGM, and all parents are invited to be members, having the opportunity to have input and contribute towards the management of the centre. We are a not-for-profit entity and hold several fundraising drives throughout the year to gain funds for equipment and resources. All children within our centre community benefit from the fantastic resources we have, so it is appreciated when all families/whānau actively contribute and participate in our fundraising initiatives.
Akoranga Childcare Centre is a child-led centre with 100% qualified and registered teachers. We take pride in creating meaningful moments that grow and develop our tamariki into being confident and competent learners.
We believe children are active, capable learners.
We offer them time and space to progress at their own natural pace where they experience meaningful learning through play.
We empower children to be confident, competent contributors to society and caretakers of a world where caring for the environment and promoting respect for Papatūānuku* is fundamental to our present and integral to their future.
We teach with heart and work in partnership with children, whānau, and the community to support, encourage, inspire, and thrive.
Our relationships are based on respect, care, communication, and trust, and tuakana-teina* is embedded in our Kaupapa*.
We embrace diversity with an approach that is inclusive, positive, and affirming in an environment that is warm, safe, and accepting.
We believe every child is special and unique.
They are our primary focus.
To empower children with a positive growth mindset as the foundation for life-long learning.
Teaching with heart, demonstrating respect, embracing acceptance.
