Juggling university study and family commitments can be tricky. That’s why AUT offers childcare and child-friendly spaces for student parents to help you manage while you’re studying with us.
We have private rooms for feeding and changing babies at all three AUT campuses.
If you’re a student parent, you can bring your children to dedicated whānau rooms at the City and North Campus libraries, so you can study while your children play.
Akoranga Childcare Centre is a close-knit, not-for-profit childcare centre that welcomes AUT staff and students, and whānau from the wider community. We offer excellent care and education in an open plan setting.
First aid kits can be found at every AUT library. Ask at the library help desk or find a library staff member who can help you.
There are convenience stores close to all AUT campuses – great for kids’ snacks and drinks; and nappies, wipes and formula (some stores only).
There are a number of AUT branded vending machines around all three campuses. Type “vending” in the maze map to find one closest to you.
All multi-vend vending machines are cashless with full Eftpos payment. They have a diverse range of products including healthy alternatives.

Financial assistance is available for times when you have a financial emergency or are experiencing a period of financial difficulty, with no savings to help you get back on track. We understand financial difficulty can impact study significantly and we may be able to provide help with childcare.
