Description of research project

For my honours research project, I am exploring sexuality diverse young adults’ experiences of connecting with and cultivating community. The term ‘sexuality diverse’ is used to refer to any rainbow, queer, and takatāpui sexual identities.

Participants will engage in a 30-90 minute interview regarding their experiences of connecting with and cultivating community. Please note interviews will be held in English. This research is conducted and supervised by rainbow researchers.

Inclusion and/or exclusion criteria

The inclusion criteria for this study is:
- Identifies as sexuality diverse
- Aged 21-29 years
- Currently living in Tāmaki Mākaurau, Auckland
- Able to participate in an interview in English

Exclusion criteria:
Participants who are friends or students of the research supervisors, Elizabeth Du Preez and Paula Collens, are not able to participate in this research due to conflicts of interest.

Statement of ethics approval

Approved by the Auckland University of Technology Ethics Committee on 2024-05-21 for Three years (until 21 May 2027).
