Research in accounting

The Accounting department at AUT is home to a vibrant and diverse community of active and internationally recognised researchers who are involved in a wide range of accounting research.

The relevance of our research is reflected in our high-level publications and citations. Our accounting researchers are being cited by scholars from around the world, with some researchers having citation counts of more than 7,000 and more than 1,000 per research publication. Our staff also act as editors, co-editors, guest-editors and editorial board members for several highly rated international accounting journals.

  • The influence of prior knowledge on the self-efficacy of students enrolled in a tertiary introductory accounting course
  • An investigation into accounting graduates’ perceptions of the influence of their New Zealand accounting education on their employment experience in China
