World-class recognition for New Zealand’s fastest-growing university
The latest set of world rankings has placed AUT in the top 500 universities in the world for the third time.

The latest set of world rankings has placed AUT in the top 500 universities in the world for the third time.

AUT’s ranking of 481-490 in the 2015/2016 QS World University Rankings® released today is an increase of more than 20 places from last year’s rankings, and puts AUT in the top three percent of universities worldwide.

AUT Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Rob Allen says the ranking is a significant accomplishment for AUT – New Zealand’s second largest and fastest-growing university.

“To be recognised in the top three percent of universities globally in only our fifteenth year as a university is an outstanding achievement, and is testament to the quality of teaching, learning and research that we are doing.

“We are also pleased to be ranked number one in New Zealand, and sixty-first in the world, for our proportion of students who are born overseas.

“It demonstrates that we are an attractive international study destination that recognises the value international students bring to the University.”

Professor Allen says the diversity of AUT’s student population continues to be a real strength, with more than 6700 students born in 90 countries choosing to study at the University.

The QS World University Rankings® have been in existence since 2004. They consider over 3000 universities in the world to rank the top 800 annually.

AUT received further recognition in this year’s QS World University Rankings by Subject, with the Art and Design school ranked in the top 50 in the world and first in New Zealand; two further rankings in the top 200 (Accounting and Finance, and Business and Management), and with a top 300 ranking for Computer Science and Information Systems
