Auckland University of Technology (AUT) has confirmed that to be eligible to reside at AUT Student Accommodation facilities in 2022, residents will need to be double vaccinated against COVID-19 or hold an exemption certificate.
Staff, contractors, and visitors to AUT Student Accommodation will also be required to be double-vaccinated or hold an exemption certificate.
The University’s Group Director of Student Services and Administration, Joanna Scarbrough, said the confirmation is to prioritise health and safety and provide clarity for students and ensure compliance with the Government’s Covid 19 Prevention framework.
“We want to ensure that our residents, their whānau, and our staff are safe and protected - and that our residents are able to thrive and maximise on the experience that living in our Student Accommodation has to offer,” said Joanna.
The requirement is being published in AUT’s Student Accommodation Residential Tenancy Agreement, the University’s Handbook and on the website. It will apply to the Akoranga Student Village on the North Shore, the Wellesley Student Accommodation at the City Campus, and the new Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation.
Evidence of vaccination status utilising the Government Covid 19 Passport will be required seven days prior to check-in.
AUT Student Accommodation facilities will remain operational at the COVID-19 Green, Orange and Red protection framework.
Those not vaccinated are encouraged to get further information, read the FAQs, and find out where to be vaccinated at the Government Unite against COVID-19 website.
