Tourism New Zealand has recognised AUT Associate Professor Erica Hinckson for her efforts in attracting a world-class academic conference to New Zealand.

Associate Professor Hinckson played a pivotal role in winning the bid to host the 2020 International Society of Behavioural Nutrition and Activity conference, which will be held at Auckland’s Aotea Centre.

The event is a platform for global experts across academia and government to discuss research and policy advances that have the potential to improve human health worldwide.

The conference has never previously been held in New Zealand, and Associate Professor Hinckson sees Auckland as a fitting destination. “AUT is doing innovative and world-leading research in physical activity, nutrition and health. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase our work and renew connections with international peers and collaborators.”

“Auckland’s pristine and beautiful environment is also perfect for inspiring new ideas and networking,” she says.

Tourism New Zealand presented Associate Professor Hinckson with a certificate acknowledging her contribution to New Zealand’s success in the Business Events sector. She received the honour at the Tourism New Zealand 2016 Business Events National Awards earlier this month.
