An AUT Business School alumna has been awarded the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Business Achievement Award.
Renee Stuart, who earned a Bachelor of Business degree in 2009, is the Founder, Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Director of MOXX Brands. Just four years old, the company designs and manufactures modern, award-winning global brands which are distributed in over 6000 stores across five countries, including prominent USA retailers Walmart and Target.
Today, MOXX Brands is recognised as one of the fastest-growing consumer goods companies in New Zealand.
The BGS Business Achievement Award honours individuals for significant contribution to the field of business. The contribution may be demonstrated over the course of a career or by a singular achievement that has advanced the business sector, a community, and/or society.
The award holds particular significance for Renee, for AUT Business School, and for the country. With nominations coming from around the world, Renee is the first New Zealand business leader to secure the top honour.
Renee’s award acknowledges her substantial accomplishments in the business field, evaluated against several criteria including financial performance, market share results, career progression and leadership. Other considerations include overall impact on an industry and/or society, ethical business leadership, sustainable practices and contributions to the growth and development of others.
Under Renee’s leadership, MOXX has achieved remarkable success, with revenue growth of 1113% in the last three years. It has also won numerous best emerging business and company of the year titles at NZ and international business awards.
Renee says a commitment to ethical business practice is at the forefront of her MOXX business model, which is underpinned by sustainability, accessibility and community.
“Each of our product lines is designed to reduce environmental impact, with an emphasis on climate positivity and waste reduction.”
BGS will formally recognise Renee at the AACSB’s 2025 International Conference and Annual meeting in Vienna, Austria, later this month.
The award will be received on her behalf by Professor Kate Kearins, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean of AUT’s Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law.
