Stamp of quality for AUT tourism degree
AUT's tourism degree has been quality-assured by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.
"I am very excited to share the good news that we have received the official UNWTO TedQual certification result for the next four years," says Dr Claire Liu, Head of AUT's Department of Tourism & Events.
"This is an excellent outcome after the onsite audit process in October 2018."
The accreditation aims to facilitate the continual improvement of tourism education, training and research programmes through the definition of a set of minimum standards of quality for tourism education.
To be awarded the Quality Assurance for Tourism Education, Training and Research Programmes (TedQual), the university's Bachelor of International Tourism Management was assessed on a range of criteria by the world's leading organisation in the field of tourism.
Among other things, the accreditation gives assurance of the coherence of the programme plan, that its content is relevant to the tourism degree, and that there is a significant focus on ethics and sustainability.
The World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) is the United Nations agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.
