It’s Cook Islands Language Week in Aotearoa from 1 August to 7 August, and episode four of this year’s AUT Pacific Language Week video series has been released.
Narrated in Te Reo Māori Kuki ‘Airani (Cook Islands Māori Language), the video takes a look at the warning signs of stroke. These include one side of the face sagging, sudden weakness in an arm, and speech difficulties.
View our Cook Islands Language Week video below to find out more about the signs of stroke and what you can do to reduce your risk of developing stroke.
The video encourages the use of the free Stroke Riskometer mobile app developed by Professor Valery Feigin, Professor Feigin, Director of the National Institute for Stroke and Applied Neurosciences at AUT, to assess their individual risk of stroke and undertake efforts to reduce the risk. The app also been endorsed by the World Stroke Organisation, the World Heart Foundation, the World Federation of Neurology, and the European Stroke Organisation.
