Futurist and strategic technologist Ben Reid discussed AI and Aotearoa with Vice-Chancellor Damon Salesa at a recent public event.
The inaugural Technology in Society Speaker series is part of AUT’s approach to grappling with AI and how it will impact our work, lives, and future – and helping students, staff and the public do the same.
The discussion covered AI in 2025, the impact on jobs (will it ‘take them away’ or create a myriad of new ones), generative AI and education and how best Aotearoa can adapt to maximise AI benefits.
“As a university of technology, AUT has a commitment to engaging with and contributing to emerging technologies. This means both supporting their ethical, practical, safe, efficient, and optimal utilisation within our own activities, and advancing the University's mission and its positive impact in the world, for all our communities and stakeholders,” says Professor Salesa.
