On Saturday 14 May 2022, AUT will host the inaugural NZ Podcasting Summit at its City Campus.
According to NZ On Air’s latest Where Are The Audiences? survey, 13% of New Zealanders listen to podcasts daily. The survey also demonstrated that podcast listenership continues to grow in Aotearoa, so in turn the local podcasting ecosystem is developing apace.
AUT’s School of Communications Studies is hosting the inaugural NZ Podcasting Summit on Saturday 14 May 2022. The day-long event brings together more than 15 panelists and speakers across seven themed sessions, and promises a day of collaboration, education, sharing, and networking.
Lecturer and Podcaster Dr Lewis Tennant developed the one-day summit. He says it’s great to see more and more New Zealanders engaging with podcasting, and not just as listeners.
“Podcasting in New Zealand is at a point where there are a lot of people and organisations making shows, but little in the way of places and spaces where local producers come together. The summit project and yearly event aims to foster more unity and community amongst local podcasters, from independent producers to those making shows for larger media outlets. Just coming together in a physical space feels like an enticing proposition right now.”
The NZ Podcasting Summit provides a wharenui for Aoteroa’s podcast producers, presenters, practitioners, and providers.
