MBIE Science Whitinga Fellowships
Three early career researchers in the faculty of Design and Creative Technologies have been awarded MBIE Science Whitinga Fellowships. They are part of a group of 30 recipients announced on Wednesday 23 June by Dr Ayesha Verrall, Associate Minister of Research, Science and Innovation.
The fellowships are supported by the New Zealand Government with funding from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and administered by Royal Society Te Apārangi.
Dr Sylvia Frain for research entitled: A Second Sun: The Legacies of Nuclear Imperialisms across Oceania.
Dr Tui Matelau-Doherty for research entitled: The value of positive ethnic and national identities for Māori and Pacific people in New Zealand.
Dr Reem Abbas for research entitled: Enhancing New Zealand’s Response and Resilience to Future Pandemics: Towards A Minimum Dataset for Health Disasters.
Dean of DCT, Professor Guy Littlefair, says he’s thrilled that the researchers will receive this support. “I’m very thankful of all DCT academics who’ve remained focused and dedicated despite the unusual and unsettled times we live in. These fellowships are a wonderful demonstration of the breadth of important research done across DCT.”
