KEDRI Director receives honorary degree
Knowledge Engineering and Discovery Research Institute (KEDRI) Director Professor Nikola Kasabov received the honorary degree Doctor Honoris Causa from Obuda University in Hungary recently.
Professor Kasabov was presented with the accolade - the highest honorary science degree in Hungary - at a formal ceremony in Budapest on Friday 23 November. The citation spoke to his "internationally-recognised work in soft computing methods, which make him a leading expert in this field."
Joining Professor Kasabov for the presentation at Obuda University was his daughter, Assia Kassabova, who works in the same field, and is based in Switzerland.
Following the ceremony, Professor Kasabov presented "From Aristoteles to AI Today" - a talk that explores the history of how 'logic systems' dating back to the 4th Century BC underpins the past, present and future of computing, AI and brain-inspired neural networks.
"It really is an honour to receive the Doctor Honoris Causa," Professor Kasabov said. "And it was extra special to be joined on the day by my daughter, Assia, who shares my enthusiasm for the subject."
