Students returning to AUT this month are encouraged to check out the Internz website and register on the site.
The university’s flagship internship programme helps students line up a paid internship placement*, in an area of interest.
Students in year two and above can register on the site with their student ID. Once their AUT student status is confirmed, students can upload a profile onto the Internz website. Once approved, the profile becomes visible to employers using the service. Students can also nominate themselves for internships.
Typically, students are then selected for interview and if successful, they are placed with an employer for up to 6 months on a full or part time basis.
Employers, once vetted and approved by Internz staff, can search the AUT Internz database of students with approved profiles, shoulder tapping them for roles. The recruitment process for each employer is unique and is based on their specific talent requirements, process, timeline and candidates' performance applying for their role. Employers can also opt to advertise their role to all AUT students via the public internships board and on-campus channels.
Director of AUT Internz, Ella Monahan said the programme has grown from strength to strength since it launched in 2013, when nine AUT graduates interned in the US.
“We want all students to know about AUT Internz because there are some incredible positions available that can give you the edge when it comes to employability. Available to students across all faculties, all you have to do is sign up, create a profile to be eligible for internships in either in New Zealand or further afield,” she said.
“This month 29 graduates are embarking on their US and Canada based internships and it’s safe to say that every one of them will have the experience of a lifetime both professionally and personally. My message to all year two students and above is to take a look at the website and set in motion your future career path by registering now.”
