After doing a PhD in cancer research, Professor Jun Lu joined AUT to do applied science, which allowed him to make more of an impact for patients by giving them immediate benefits.
The intrigue and marvel that people have about his research on the benefits of seaweed extracts is the most satisfying part of his research.
We asked Jun five questions ahead of his Inaugural Professorial Address – he discussed his biomedical research with seaweed extracts, how he got into his field what motivates him.
"I think we all try to find a way to make a difference and to contribute to society and mankind, so if you are doing something meaningful and that keeps you going for it. This is what I want to do rather than I have to do, or I need to do," he said.
This is a free public lecture, and everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
When: Tuesday 6 October, 4.30pm – 5.30pm
