Successful interpreting starts with asking the person what they want, rather than others deciding what they need to know, says Professor Ineke Crezee.
We asked Ineke five questions ahead of her Inaugural Professorial Address – she discussed her research on health interpreter education and her hopes for bilingual patient navigators.
“I think we all try to find a way to make a difference and to contribute to society and mankind, so if you are doing something meaningful and that keeps you going for it. This is what I want to do rather than I have to do, or I need to do,” she said.
This is a free public lecture, and everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
When: Tuesday 20 April, 4.30pm – 5.30pm
Where: WA Conference Centre, City Campus
