Professor Jairo Gutierrez says the interaction between people and technology is unpredictable and often means research results are unexpected.
We asked Jairo five questions following his appointment to Professor – he discussed his research on computer networks and telecommunications and his hopes that people see the benign side of technology and be mindful of the possible abuses.
“We have to be mindful about security and privacy. Not everything that can be done, should be done, in terms of technology. At some point, we should be able to disconnect and step back,” he said.
