Complexities of Dickason case explained
Kris Gledhill

Jurors in the Lauren Dickason case have had to contend with complex legal issues and arguments.

Eleven of the 12 members of the jury have found Ms Dickason guilty of murdering her three young children in their Timaru home in 2021.

Although she admitted killing her children, Ms Dickason’s lawyers argued that she was not guilty by reason of insanity or infanticide.

AUT Law School Professor Kris Gledhill, who has written about the legal defense of infanticide, unpacks the complexities of the case and explains what is likely to happen next.
