Community contribution celebrated

Lawyer Pakeeza Rasheed was the deserving winner of the AUT Law School-sponsored Community Contribution Award at the ILANZ: In-house Lawyers Association of New Zealand awards. The award category celebrates in-house lawyers who devote their expertise, talents and time to benefit a charity, not-for-profit, or similar organisation making an impact on the community it serves.

Pakeeza, who is associate counsel at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), has a long history of involvement with community works and charitable organisations. She is currently the chair of the Khadija Leadership Network, on the board of the Human Rights Lawyers Association, and an associate of the Island Rights Initiative, a not-for-profit that works with small island nations on human rights issues.
