Che Fu and Tigilau Ness to headline AUT University’s South Campus Housewarming
Tigilau Ness will be performing at the AUT South Campus Housewarming event on Saturday.

The Auckland community is being invited to the AUT University South Campus Housewarming to have a look around and checkout what’s been hiding behind the fence, all these years.

The free AUT South Campus Housewarming event will be a mix of entertainment, food, sporting activities, and course information.

Local musicians will be performing, including Che Fu, Tigilau Ness, Sidney Diamond and Three Houses Down. Attendees also have the chance to meet Counties Manukau Rugby players, see the mighty Ranfurly Shield, or meet stars from the Black Sox softball team.

There will be staff and current students onsite to discuss the new study options available at the campus and give you an idea of what studying at AUT will be like.

AUT Vice Chancellor Derek McCormack says, “AUT University’s South Campus is aiming to bring new opportunity to the South Auckland community by providing an accessible world-ranked university education right in the heart of South Auckland”.

One of the performers at the event is the “grandfather of reggae” Tigilau Ness. He will be performing with his son Che Fu.

When Tigilau was approached to be part of the event he said it was an easy decision, because he is so passionate about the Manukau region, South Auckland and education.

“I know how important education is,” he says. “In today’s world you need to be fairly well educated to survive and get a job and that is what AUT helps people do.”

He works out in the South Auckland community in a variety of different capacities, one is a role on an advisory board and another is mentoring young fathers. And this weekend it will be as a perfomer.

MaiFM will be broadcasting live from the AUT South Campus on the day.

The event is on Saturday February 22, 2pm-5.30pm, free entry, at the AUT South Campus, 640 Great South Rd, Manukau. Corner of Te Irirangi Drive and Great South Rd.
