AUT’s Beijing Alumni & Friends Get-Together on 20 October 2024 brought together alumni, industry leaders, and key partners at the Westin Beijing Chaoyang. Hosted by Professor Guy Littlefair, Pro Vice Chancellor International, the event highlighted AUT’s ongoing commitment to fostering global relationships and celebrating the achievements of its international alumni.

The event was chaired by William Ho, Director of International Relations and Recruitment, who welcomed distinguished guests, including H.E. Grahame Morton, New Zealand’s Ambassador to China, and Michael Zhang, Regional Director Greater China at Education New Zealand, alongside AUT’s own leadership team and staff.

“It was wonderful to return to China and reconnect with our incredible alumni, our great graduates. They are truly our best ambassadors and advocates. It was inspiring and heartwarming to hear all the great achievements in their respective careers, as well as their willingness to give back to AUT," William said.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Grahame Morton highlighted the significance of education as a bridge between New Zealand and China.  Following this, Professor Littlefair addressed the audience, expressing pride in the achievements of AUT’s alumni in China and their role as ambassadors of New Zealand education.

“China holds great significance for AUT’s growing, and substantial, global activities. Having the opportunity to connect with our alumni in Beijing last week really cemented my belief in the power of education and its enduring influence on careers and life; well beyond the campus. I could not be more proud of the alumni I met with and to hear their stories and learn first-hand of their successes, was heartening. All together a memorable experience," Professor Littlefair said.

By creating an environment of connection and celebration, the 2024 AUT Beijing Alumni & Friends Get-Together further solidified AUT’s commitment to maintaining strong relationships with its global alumni community, promoting New Zealand education, and fostering future collaborations. The evening not only celebrated past achievements but also set the stage for future partnerships, with AUT’s values of respect, integrity, and compassion at the forefront of its international engagement.
