Te Āhuru Recreation Centre in the Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation building is now open, with brand-new facilities and multi-use activity spaces.
The centre is accessible to all students and features:
The student lounge and common areas have moveable furniture to encourage a diverse range of activities, from music and dance performances, to games and film screenings.
A large interactive screen, a stadium with a viewing area, and a sprung floor room are some of the features that encourage sports events and social activities.
The centre is led by staff and students, with AUT and AUTSA working together in a partnership model.
Group Director Student Services Joanna Scarbrough says the new facilities will enhance the AUT student experience on campus.
“This is the first time we’ve had this kind of facility available for students at the City Campus, and we hope the centre provides a safe place for sport and activities that support student wellbeing and encourage social connections and a sense of belonging at AUT,” says Joanna.
