AUT supports NZ Innovation Heroes
Amongst the online support on offer is a series of short films, featuring Kiwi innovators.

AUT is supporting a new initiative, designed to help Kiwi innovators get their idea off the ground and build a successful business.

There's nothing like the energy generated when a bunch of innovators come together. That's the idea behind Innovation Heroes, which aims to provide innovators with quick tips, education and inspiration from others that have 'been there done that.'

This online hub is a dedicated space where people can access advice and support. The initiative, developed by the NZ Innovation Council, the organisation behind the NZ Innovation Awards, links innovators and business across the country, helping them to navigate their next stop to grow their business.

Amongst the online support on offer is a series of short films, featuring Kiwi innovators who talk about their experiences and insights. Each film focuses on specific elements needed to create a successful business, from developing a market strategy and plan to overcoming the mental barriers that can make it hard to start a new business.  AUT is the sponsor of the Research and Development video.

The university is also providing support in the form of two expert coaches. Steve Corbett, CEO of AUT Enterprises and Rosanne Ellis from RIO are on hand to support and answer any questions from innovators and young companies, and potentially connect them with other areas of the university.

There's still time for staff and students to enter this year's NZ Innovation Awards. Covering a range of sectors, specialities and industries, applications close on Friday 4 August. For more information visit the NZ Innovation Awards website.
