AUT Postgraduate Diploma in Communication Studies student Joshua Iosefo has been nominated for Young New Zealander of the Year at the New Zealander of the Year Awards.
Iosefo has been nominated for three categories: New Zealander of the Year, Young New Zealander of the Year and Local Hero.
Besides pursuing television and studio production studies, Iosefo keeps busy as a student ambassador and a mentor to graduating high school students at AUT’s UniPrep programme.
The awards aim to recognise Kiwis who use their passion to make New Zealand a better place. Past winners have included the likes of Richie Mccaw, Sir Stephen Tindall and Dame Anne Salmond.
Iosefo was the graduate speaker at last year’s AUT Summer Graduation. His speech about overcoming adversity to graduate struck a chord among many New Zealanders and quickly became a viral hit.
