Auckland University of Technology (AUT) has been ranked the twelfth best university in the world for ‘international outlook’ in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. The ‘international outlook’ category is based on metrics associated with a university’s international staff, international co-authorship of research and its international students.
AUT has more than 7000 international-born students from over 100 countries choosing to study at the University.
THE places AUT in the band of 601-800 in terms of its overall university ranking, an excellent result for a young university, placing it amongst the top 4% of universities globally. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings consider over 3000 universities in the world to rank just the top 800 annually.
Phil Baty, editor of the THE World University Rankings, says the rankings play a significant role in degree recognition globally and are renowned for being a balanced and comprehensive system.
“The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, now in their twelfth year, apply rigorous standards, using tough global benchmarks across all of a global research university’s key missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
For Auckland University of Technology to make 601-800 in the world is an outstanding achievement to be celebrated.”
Last month, AUT was ranked in the top 500 universities by the QS World University Rankings® and its Art and Design school was ranked in the top 50 in this year’s QS World University Rankings by Subject®.
