AUT proud to support the Auckland Triennial
The internationally significant Auckland Triennial has opened, with AUT University continuing its support for the event as Triennial Partner.
The 4th Auckland Triennial, “Last Ride in a Hot Air Balloon”, is based on the theme of risk and adventure in art today and features work by 27 New Zealand and international artists.
The Triennial runs for almost three months across six Auckland galleries: AUT’s ST PAUL ST Gallery, Auckland Art Gallery, ARTSPACE, the George Fraser Gallery and Shed 6. ST PAUL ST Gallery will show work by installation artist Martin Boyce (Scotland), and Tino Sehgal (London/Berlin) who is known for producing live encounters between people rather than making objects.
AUT postgraduate art and design students Anthony Cribb and Laura Marsh have worked on another Triennial exhibition by Danish-based collective Learning Site and artist Rikke Luther. They have made an ecological dwelling complete with mushrooms which is installed at Auckland Art Gallery.
In recognition of AUT’s role as the Triennial Partner, AUT staff and students get unlimited free entry to Triennial exhibitions at the Auckland Art Gallery.
