AUT Independent Review
Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is commissioning an independent review of its policies, systems and practices regarding harassment.
Vice-Chancellor Derek McCormack has announced the review will be led by an external legal expert and focus on sexual harassment.
“We are taking this opportunity to review, and to make any necessary changes to be certain we are a place where everyone feels welcome, safe and able to succeed – and able to safely and effective raise concerns if that is not the case,” he said.
The review will provide AUT staff and students with the opportunity to be interviewed and give views on improvements or issues. The findings and recommendations of the review will be made public and this will be followed by an implementation programme responding to the recommendations.
“In general, I believe that our processes and practices in this area are of a good standard. However, as a university community we must be committed to improving them and doing what it takes to ensure they meet the highest standards. The independent review’s findings and recommendations will be enormously important in achieving that.
