AUT climbs world university rankings
AUT continues to climb the world university rankings according to the latest QS World University Rankings 2021 released today by global education analysts Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
AUT has moved up 5 places from last year and remains in the top 2% of universities worldwide.
"These rankings are important for students and their families as they make important decisions about their tertiary education," said Jenny Bygrave, Assistant Vice-Chancellor Strategy, Students and Marketing, "The progress AUT has made moving up 64 places in the last 5 years is very encouraging."
The University also increased its 'Academic Reputation' ranking by 24 places. 'Academic Reputation' measures the perceptions from more than 100,000 academics around the world regarding the best institutions in terms of research. "Our contribution to research excellence in New Zealand and globally is a priority for our University and seeing this improvement in Academic Reputation is recognition of the work of our academics and the staff that support them," said Ms Bygrave.
AUT continued to rank very strongly as an internationally attractive university, being awarded the maximum 100 points for 'International Faculty' and 'International Students'.
'International Faculty' refers to the number of international academics at a university and is a measure on how internationally attractive a university is for academic staff. AUT moved up 13 places in the rankings and is now ranked 55th in the world for this measure.
'International Students' refers to the proportion of students that are international and is also a proxy measure for how attractive a university is to international students. AUT is ranked 23rd in the world for this measure.
"The contribution of our international students, researchers and international academic staff to our University is invaluable," said Ms Bygrave. "We continue to receive strong levels of enquiries from international students wanting to study in New Zealand despite the current situation with the global pandemic and border controls. We're looking forward to welcoming these students, as well as international academics and researchers, back to AUT, in a safe manner, as soon as is possible."
AUT has also achieved the maximum five stars in every category from QS Stars rating. The categories include: Research, Innovation, Teaching, Employability, Internationalisation, Facilities, Specialist subject and Inclusiveness.
