After taking a traditional route to academia through a degree in English literature and history, Professor Lorna Piatti-Farnell began researching popular culture after realising it could tell us a lot about the way we live.
We asked Professor Piatti-Farnell five questions ahead of her Inaugural Professorial Address – she discussed her research on popular culture, what’s surprising about her research, and her hopes for the industry.
“I’m hoping to help others continue to make a contribution so that popular culture can be seen as a truly meaningful field by engaging with different areas of our lives, whether it’s the shows we watch, the music we listen to or the clothes we wear to truly find a way to place ourselves in the world,” she said.
This is a free public lecture, and everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
When: Tuesday 27 October, 4.30pm – 5.30pm
Where: WA Conference Centre, City Campus (the event will also be live-streamed)
