Professor of spatial design Albert Refiti and Tuputau Lelaulu, a PhD student and director of MAU Studio, recently took part in an expert panel discussion at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Alongside Met curator Maia Nuku, World Monuments Fund vice president of programmes Jonathan Bell, and artist and curator Taloi Havini, the group discussed Indigenous cultural heritage sites in Oceania, with case studies that highlight the unique ways mobility, ocean navigation, and cosmology influence the region's expansive sense of spatial and built environments.
