Dr Dion Enari
Dr Dion Enari from AUT’s School of Sport and Recreation has won the prestigious Pacific Education Award at the 2024 Sunpix Pacific Peoples Awards.
Celebrating Pacific excellence and service to Aotearoa, the ninth Sunpix awards recognises and honours a variety of community leaders navigating different corners of the world to uplift all things Pacific.
“To the many staff who have helped me along the way, thank you. I stand on the hard work of your shoulders. I wish to especially acknowledge the Pro Vice-Chancellor Pacific Fa’alogo Associate Professor Jacoba Matapo and Vice-Chancellor Toeolesulusulu Professor Damon Salesa, as a son and daughter of the Pacific and Samoa. You both showed me that we can achieve anything, with our culture as our foundation. Alofa atu,” says Dr Enari.
