Summer got busy for four AUT students as they embarked on a 10-week summer internship programme, offered through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and the Pacific Cooperation Foundation (PCF).

PCF has facilitated the MFAT PCF Student Summer Internship Programme for the past six years and it continues to strengthen through the increasing numbers of scholars and host agencies that come through each year.

PCF team Auckland hosted the recent PCF NZ Scholarship Internship programme orientation evening for the successful scholars from AUT:

  • Litia Takuia from Kiribati – Bachelor of Science (Food Science)
  • Laisa Dan from Vanuatu – Bachelor of Business (Finance and Accounting)
  • Luna-Rossa Lomitusi Ape from Samoa –Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering)
  • Vanessa Simbiken-Ningasap from Papua New Guinea - Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences

Each scholar is matched to a relevant NZ company or government organisation to undertake an internship over the summer period. The purpose of the internship is to provide students with an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills in a real work place in preparation for employment in their home country as future public and/or private sector regional leaders.
