Full scholarship to study fertility

How can society ensure that everyone can create families regardless of gender, sexuality, ethnicity or ability?

This is the research area for which the right PhD student can study for three years - thanks to a $81,000 Marsden Fund scholarship.

Associate Professor Sharyn Graham Davies says the doctoral thesis will contribute to a project that explores social justice and equity around access to assisted reproduction.

The candidate’s research will focus on understanding the challenges in creating a family when assisted reproduction is required but access is denied.

"We are particularly interested in the stories of those often excluded from IVF access, including LGBTQ, disabled people, single people, Muslim migrants, Māori and Pacific peoples. PhD projects focusing on Māori or Pacific groups are particularly welcome."

Davies says the project is being carried out together with Victoria University in Wellington, and the successful applicant could undertake their study there or at AUT.

"We’ve extended the deadline to ensure we get the right person – could that be you?"
