AUT is the Platinum Sponsor and will be hosting the Aotearoa AI Summit on Wednesday 12 May.
The AI Summit will bring together AI interested organisations of all sizes and stages, academia as well as the public sector with the goal of promoting and advancing our Aotearoa AI ecosystem. This year will have a practical, New Zealand centric focus, looking at the ‘how-to’ of AI – ensuring attendees leave feeling inspired and empowered to do more with AI.
Attendees will connect and collaborate with the goal of not only developing improved awareness of AI in New Zealand, but also in delving deeper to discuss how AI can support the growth of our country’s economy, and what needs to happen to make this a reality.
Pro Vice-Chancellor International and Dean, Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies, Professor Guy Littlefair, says this is a fantastic opportunity for AUT. “We are delighted to be able to sponsor and host the AI Summit this year. This fortifies our position as a University of Technology and positions us at the forefront of supporting AI and its potential in New Zealand.”
Minister Clark will be presenting at the event, speaking on New Zealand's National AI Strategy. From AUT, Professor Dave Parry will be presenting on the topic: ‘Excuses. Excuses?’ – What is limiting effective use of AI and what can we do about it? Dr Mahsa Mohaghegh and Gary Putt will also be hosting roundtable discussions.
