AUT Business School meets the market with new Professional Masters
The AUT Business School is extending its postgraduate business degree portfolio to meet a growing demand for tertiary qualifications that fast track career enhancement and change, building upon the success and reputation of the long established Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Professional Accounting (MPA).
Music, art and celebration were the name of the game at the Nga Wai O Horotiu Marae 16th birthday last week.
Live performances, AUT student work, expo stalls and kai (food) kept the 250 attendees, including Vice Chancellor Derek McCormack, Te Ara Poutama Dean Pare Keiha and Dr Pita Sharples, busy.
World champions win at AUT sport awards
Two world champion Rugby Sevens players and a NZ touch rugby representative have taken the major awards at AUT’s annual Blues Awards. Recognising sporting excellence, the Blues awards were presented to 78 students at a formal dinner on Friday 11 October at the Sir Paul Reeves building in Auckland’s city campus.
Scientists to tackle traumatic brain injury
AUT University researchers have joined an international team of 38 scientific institutes and 60 European hospitals aiming to create better and more targeted treatments for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Mental disorders among older people often go undetected and there is concern about recent increases in suicides says AUT’s Professor Max Abbott on World Mental Health Day (WMHD). Mental health and older people is the focus of this year’s WMHD on 10 October.

Fulbright Award a lifetime honour for AUT anthropologist
AUT anthropologist Associate Professor Sharyn Graham Davies says the Fulbright New Zealand Travel Award she received this month, will be an honour for life.
Davies combines lecturing in the School of Social Sciences and Public Policy with an active programme of research currently focusing on procedural justice in Indonesia.
American company, Emergent Technologies, Inc has signed a deal to commercialise a novel technology platform (Btechnology) invented by award winning AUT University scientist Professor Stephen Henry. The agreement between Emergent Technologies, a leading innovation solutions company and KODE Biotech, Ltd has the potential to generate five to 10 million dollars in annual licensing fees.
Once-in-a-lifetime scholarship programme launches for graduating students
AUT University is searching for graduating students for eight scholarships to experience working life in the USA. AUT InterNZ is a work experience and cultural exchange programme like no other, where New Zealand graduates will ‘earn their first stripes’ as global citizens working in New York and Los Angeles for eight to 12 weeks during 2014, laying foundations for future leadership roles.
