Bleeding, talking mannequin takes students through their paces
He may be plastic, but the SimMan® Essential Bleeding mannequin can spurt blood, talk and scream in pain.
He’s an essential ‘member’ of AUT University’s Paramedicine team and is one of the high-fidelity human simulators used for teaching Paramedicine and Emergency Management. Using these real-life mannequins, students deal with worst-case scenarios under the guidance of a lecturer, technician and support person in an observation booth. The technician’s voice is transmitted via the mannequin, giving it the ability to speak and respond to the students’ questions.
International Award for AUT student
Postgraduate student journalist Daniel Drageset has won a coveted international prize in trauma journalism - the 2013 Dart trauma journalism award.

AUT celebrates biggest graduation ever!
AUT University is celebrating its largest ever graduation this week as 4180 students receive their qualifications at one of eight ceremonies over the next three days. At the beginning of each day, AUT graduands will also have the opportunity to parade proudly in their regalia from Albert Park to Aotea Centre, where the ceremonies will be held.
AUT student wins Prime Minister's Pacific Youth Award
AUT student Edmond Fehoko has won the Cogita Inspiration Award at the 2013 Prime Minister’s Pacific Youth Awards.
The awards, which Education Minister Hekia Parata says in a press release “profile high-achieving young Pacific people” and “help inspire young Pacific people to reach their full potential”, are awarded for leadership, creativity and inspiration.
