AUT Gait Lab

Donate now to support children and families visiting AUT’s Clinical Gait Analysis Lab.

AUT Foundation is the official charity for AUT, working to support AUT in its mission to produce great graduates by making meaningful and impactful partnerships through philanthropy and giving. We fundraise for initiatives including supporting AUT's Student Support Fund (also supported by our incredible family of staff donors), scholarships and student awards, and specific projects at AUT, which could be equipment, capital or both!

Last year, we successfully raised almost $500,000 for upgraded clinical equipment for the refurbishment of AUT's Clinical Gait Analysis Lab – now to be known as the Lindsay Foundation Gait Lab thanks to an incredible donation from the Lindsay Foundation.

This is a service run in partnership with Starship Hospital that assesses over 100 children per year who present with a range of movement disorders and issues. The service and lab team assist patients’ clinical teams to assess and measure children's movement and walking to provide data and information to determine the best way forward in treatment, whether that be surgical intervention, physiotherapy or something else.

The upgraded equipment, paid for with donated funds from an incredible group of supporters, will allow the team at the lab to produce more accurate measurements and data, resulting in a more informed approach for treatment and intervention, leading to better health outcomes for patients.

As part of the refurbishment, we have created a more welcoming and calming environment for whānau visiting the lab, and we are looking for help to reach our final goal of $1,500 to provide toys and other helpful items to be on hand for clinical teams to use to keep patients, siblings and whānau entertained during what can be a stressful, long process.

Can you help? We know this is a dedicated group of AUT staff who are more than aware of how beneficial some simple toys and distractions can be when going through a process as stressful as this – we are hopeful that with your help we will be able to provide these few special items to make the experience of visiting the lab just that little bit easier.
