AUT has set a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2025 (compared to a 2018 baseline).
In 2024, AUT produced 9,042 tonnes of CO2e. Please note our emissions are being independently verified, so they are subject to change.
Here is a breakdown of our emissions in 2024:
Scope 1 - 10%
863 tonnes of CO2e emissions
Scope 2 - 14%
1,254 tonnes of CO2e emissions
Scope 3 - 76%
6,925 tonnes of CO2e emissions
AUT’s 2024 CO2e emissions inventory is being independently verified against ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gases – Part 1.
AUT worked with the other universities, Te Pūkenga and the Wānanga, to identify potential impacts on the tertiary education sector as a result of climate change. These impacts were described through four climate scenarios. AUT is using these scenarios to identify our climate-related risks and opportunities and better understand the resilience of our business model and strategy.
AUT is committed to decarbonising our operations with various sustainability measures. Learn about what we are doing in this space.
