AUT has set a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2025 (compared to a 2018 baseline).
In 2023 AUT produced 8,885 tonnes CO2e – 35% less than AUT’s total emissions in 2018.
Here is a breakdown of our emissions in 2023:
AUT’s 2023 CO2e emissions inventory has been independently verified against ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gases – Part 1.
AUT worked with the other universities, Te Pūkenga and the Wānanga, to identify potential impacts on the tertiary education sector as a result of climate change. These impacts were described through four climate scenarios. AUT is using these scenarios to identify our climate-related risks and opportunities and better understand the resilience of our business model and strategy.
AUT is committed to decarbonising our operations with various sustainability measures. Learn about what we are doing in this space.
